Josiah Webb was born in Estill County April 22, 1834, the son of Elisha and Elizabeth Harris-Webb.
Josiah joined the Union Army in 1862 and served for two years, being discharged at Camp Dick Robinson as a Sergeant in the Company G. 14th Kentucky Cavalry. He returned to Estill County and Married Martha Abney 1838-1925, the daughter of Joshua and Sarah Griggs-Abney.
Josiah and Martha spent their lives at Old Landing in what is now Lee County. They were the parents of 10 children, 8 of whom reached adulthood. Josiah was a farmer and served as a Justice Of The Peace for 24 years. He died August 14, 1900 in Lee County. Martha lived on at the home place and died December 5, 1925. Josiah and Martha are both buried in the Goe Cemetery at Old Landing.
Martha Abney-Webb applied for a widows pension based on Josiah’s Civil War service, and started drawing it in 1900 and continued until her death in 1925.
